15/11: kis. – Steve Rachmad’s Birthday Bash w/ Cobblestone Jazz @ Studio 80, Amsterdam

It’s a date saved by many clubbers: Steve Rachmad’s birthday party. Every November he marks this occasion by bringing a special artist from the international underground scene to his ‘kis.’ night. On November 15th it’s about COBBLESTONE JAZZ, a special treat considering their sparse Amsterdam performances.

At the moment there are a few live-acts that just operate on a different level than the rest. Canadians Danuel Tate, Mathew Johnson, and Tyger Dhula, aka Cobblestone Jazz, might even be leading that exclusive bunch. Three hyper-musical freaks will be jamming on an intricate formation of gear. Add Studio 80’s hi-fi like sound system, and you know you’re in for a great show. STEVE RACHMAD will close the night in the front room, with support in the form of an opening set from local hero INTERSTELLAR FUNK. The latter is the young buck on this line-up, although releases on labels like Rush Hour show a promising musician. Of course, Studio 2 had to match up quality wise. MARSEL DELSIN & AROY DEE have been creating their own musical realm on their own conditions for years now. Running their own labels (Delsin / MOS Recordings), putting out releases, but most of all an authentic style have made them influential both locally and internationally. Artists like these need to get carte blanche.
