INTERVIEW | Steve Rachmad on Parkett
Parkett sits down with Steve Rachmad for an in-depth conversation marking 45 years in music, covering both sides of his current Dekmantel output: the Detroit-rooted machine music of ‘3-6-9’ and the orchestral, hand-played territory of ‘Light and Time’. He talks through teaching himself orchestral arrangement via Kontakt during the pandemic, why he recorded much of the album lying in bed with a keyboard on his lap, letting human imperfection stay in the mix instead of correcting it, and why he sees the record as an expansion of his identity rather than a departure from it.
